More sketchy roughs...

Three more roughs, can't wait to start adding details and placing models. Kickstarter starts at the beginning of April, let's hope it all works out!

Six more roughs... only ten more roughs to go.
Which one shall I finalize first? Such a lovely problem to have.

On to number 2

There won't be a lot of traffic for a while, but if anyone wants to weigh in on which pic I do next now is the time. Whichever gets the most comments gets the green light.

The Kickstarter page for the project will be up in a few weeks, be sure to check it out when you can as my  client will need the support from anyone who is able. Donate enough and maybe I can even fit you or a loved one into a pic...

The first design!

The old site is down, time for a new project page.

I'm coming up with 17 images for a hymnal, and have already gone through the rough thumbnail sketches. I'll leave the choice of which hymn this applies to up to public opinion, but I wanted to show my method and approach for others to have a better idea of my workflow. First we have the rough thumbnails. There were many, but lets just stick with these four for now. This is just for ideas, the final image rarely resembles the thumb.

Next we have the rough. It's just a way for me to get an idea of color and space. Sorry folks, the doggie doesn't make it to the final pic.

I drew in the background first this time, a definite no-no most of the time, but while angels make wonderful models, they're impossible to fit into a schedule.

And the almost done version. Later I'll be removing Alejandro on the bridge and adding light and shadow to the water, but this is enough for now. I like the pic to be as interesting up close as from a distance.

I actually ended up with two separate pics this time, the top half of heaven and the bottom image of the angel looking to earth. Given time I would make it into an extra long triptych but there are other images that need to be done.
 Perhaps another day.
